AIA Talks: Athenian Women AND the Emperor Maxentius March 14

Dr. Elisha Dumser of  Ursuline College, Ohio will give two lectures on the classical past of Greece and Rome.  In her day talk, Dr. Dumser will speak about the prominent role of women in the Panathenaic Procession, the great parade and sacrifice put on in Athens in celebration of Athena’s birthday.  In the evening, she will explore the building program of the Emperor Maxentius (306-312 CE), his quest for legitimacy and for restoration of the greatness of the Empire.
