Fund-Raiser: Archaeology & Wine; Egypt & Israel--20 November, 6pm-8pm

We are raising money for our local AIA society’s speaker fund.  Our local society has invited a number of speakers beyond those that AIA headquarters sends. These include former FBI Agent Robert Wittman, who gave us insider accounts of art theft and recovery, and Dr. John Verano, who presented two fascinating talks on Peruvian archaeology.

On Saturday, November 20th, from 6pm to 8pm, former UAH President and local society founding member, Dr. Frank Franz and his wife Dr. Judy Franz will host a benefit for the lecture series at their home at 2229 Governors Bend. On the side of Monte Sano, the Franz residence offers panoramic views of Huntsville. As you sample intriguing wines from Israel, you can bid on the treasures in our silent auction such as a beautiful cynatype photograph by José Betancourt. Dr. Peter Brand, Dunavant Professor of Ancient History and Egyptology at the University of Memphis, who excavates at the great temple in Karnak, will be mingling with us at the event and then giving a brief talk about “Egyptian Evidence for Early Hebrews.”

Tickets available for $25/single, $40/couple, and $15/seniors. Help keep our fantastic lecture series running! Contact Lillian Joyce for tickets at joycel@uah.edu or 256-824-6114.
